Happy Thanksgiving! Today is a special day where family and friends come together to share a meal and memories as they create new ones.  It is also a day to reflect on the goodness of God and all that He has done for us over the course of this year.  Some of you, including myself, may have lost a loved one in your family and the day just isn’t the saIMG_3884me.  In spite of, we still have to say thank you Lord.

For me, this year is a bit different, as it has been one year almost exactly (November 26th), since my grandmother passed away.  It feels different.  Her upbeat spirit and giving heart has left an extraordinary mark on my family and I and everyone she’s ever touched in her life.  Even though she is gone, the legacy in which she left behind has transferred to all of us to carry on.  She passed the torch.

Her wisdom, her kindness, her outstanding love for people, and most importantly her love for the Lord has forced us to live differently.   At least I know it has for me.  Last year this time, I was focused on me entirely, giving God just enough space in my life, but not too much.  After she passed, my perspective of life changed and I realized it was time I really make Him Lord of my life and not just a name said in a prayer.  It was a painful loss, but it grew me up spiritually and made me so thankful of all that she taught me about trusting God for everything and leaning on Him when I don’t always understand.

I know she is better than ok as she sits and talks with Jesus and all the other great people she used to marvel about in the Bible.  It doesn’t change the fact that I miss her like crazy and wish I could sit and talk with her just one more time.  But the beauty in this pain is that she did what she was called to do.  She raised up a family of warriors that have an understanding that you cannot do anything without the Father and it matters how you live your life and treat others.

For those of you missing a loved one this holiday season, think about all the good they left behind and make a point to spread that love and positive energIMG_1772y out into the world.   Keep them alive in taking heed to all they taught you when they were still here.

My grandma believed that Jesus is the fixer of ALL THINGS.  That even means your broken heart.  He’ll mend it back together with His love so you can continue to live out loud for Him just as she did.    There is always beauty in pain.  You may not see it or feel it now, but still say thank you Lord as He has a purpose and plan for your life and doeth ALL THINGS well.  He makes no mistakes.

Again,  keep giving thanks and keep on giving.  The world needs more of it.

Until next Thursday, be blessed and GetUp and GetFit in God!

If you don’t know Jesus…Call Him, He’ll answer-1 John 1:9; Romans 10:9; John 3:16

God bless you,
