Every one of us has left something behind. We’ve all had to let go of people, places, and things when in reality we wanted to hold on. In our minds, we believed that if we gave IT up our world would somehow fall apart. Once ties are cut, the transitional period can be difficult, making it easy to turn around and go back to what we once had.
Our linear view is what stops us from moving forward because all we can see is what is in front of us and what is behind us. The children of Israel struggled with this for so many years. A people who were once slaves in treacherous conditions, continually looked back because they could only see the “now”. The road was not easy because they could not see God’s promise of a better life instantaneously.
God’s view goes beyond that of a bird. He knows our end before our beginning and he’ll always take care of us. For this reason, it’s so important to listen to the Holy Spirit to move on from certain situations, otherwise we’ll miss out on his absolute best.
As Christians, we sometimes forget that we serve a God that is alive and has a bird’s eye view of this world. He sits high and sees the entire picture and will cover us by letting certain things we thought we wanted or needed fall through. It is never to hurt us, but to protect us and to give us His best for our lives. In the moment, we’ll feel abandoned and sometimes heart-broken, but the end result is to further us into a situation that is so much better than the last and to give God the glory!
God’s provision always exceeds human expectations.
…I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.
