Have you ever tried your absolute best not to ask for help all because you wanted to hold the title of having done “it” yourself? It’s amazing how having control gives humans some sort of self-gratification. We’ll sacrifice ourselves to the point of drowning before asking someone else for help. It’s even more sad when we don’t even ask the One who created our very existence for help.
I’m guilty as charged for this. I used to fight tooth and nail to ensure MY plans went My way and if I worked hard enough everything would work out perfectly. I now realize that I was foolish and selfish for thinking and operating this way. It’s almost like baking a cake with the wrong ingredients. If you don’t follow the recipe exactly it will surely become an inedible disaster.
The same goes for Christians who want to create their own road maps based on what they think they are doing right to ensure a positive outcome. Don’t misunderstand me. It’s okay to have goals and plans for ourselves (Proverbs 29:18), but the moment that we think it is us orchestrating every event, God has an amazing way of reminding us who’s in charge.
He’ll let us fall flat on our faces as many times necessary for us to understand that we cannot do ANYTHING without Him. We don’t run ourselves, our families, our jobs, or any other thing under the sun. He controls it all and has an amazing way of having life events, whether good or bad, create a beautiful story for our lives, while bringing all the glory back to Him. The moment we wake up and surrender to His will and way is the moment we realize how small we are and just how BIG He is.
Remember, His thoughts are higher than ours and His ways are not our ways. Trust God and His plan for your life. Let Him fight for you!!
Proverbs 3:6 -In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
