I’ve been trying to figure out what to write about this week. In all honesty, this was supposed to be posted last week, but between procrastination and life, here we are. Sometimes it’s extremely clear and I know right away what I know will encourage others as well as myself. As I was flipping through my bible, the scripture Matthew 4 spoke loudly. Jesus was tempted by Satan in many areas. Each time he was tempted, He overcame.
In this day and age there is always something to overcome. If you’re a student, you want good grades. If you’re in the workforce, you want to be noticed for a promotion. On a more personal note, mothers and fathers want to be successful in raising their children, while husbands and wives want to have successful and long lasting relationships. Almost inevitably we encounter challenges along the way that make it harder to reach our goals.
When Jesus was in the wilderness, the devil cunningly tried to persuade Him to give in in his most vulnerable moment. We all have our moments in the wilderness. Dry seasons where we have nothing to hold onto but God. With the wilderness always awaits the other side. Victory.
How do we overcome our desolate seasons? The answer is God’s word. For every temptation Satan presented, Jesus responded with the Word. Each rebuttal included the phrase “it is written”. Every answer to overcome is in the Word of God, fully loaded and ready to fire back at the enemy. There is nothing God doesn’t have an answer for.
The final temptation presented to Jesus was to bow down and worship Satan for rule over all of the earthly kingdoms. Just like Jesus, we are presented with propositions, shortcuts, and easy ways out to obtain what we want. But when we choose to trust God and refuse to give in, we win in the end. After Jesus remained faithful in His purpose, He was then glorified and given the name above every name and seated at the right hand of God.
In the latter of our Christian journeys, we will be also be glorified in glory as an heir if God and co-heirs with Jesus, but in the meantime we are also given victory over our circumstances by simply trusting and leaning on God for everything we need. With Jesus Christ, we reign victorious with the one who always ensures we win no matter what our situations look like. Christ is the overcomer. The epitome of victory and as long as we stick with Him we will NEVER lose.
Until next time, be blessed and GetUp and GetFit in God!
